OPEN THE WINDOW OF YOUR HEART

April 27, 2017

Step away from the chatter in your mind that doesn’t serve you or the ones you love and feed and nurture the chatter that does.

An old Cherokee chief was teaching his grandson about life..."A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy. "It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.
"One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, self-doubt, and ego.
"The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.
"This same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."
The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"The old chief simply replied, "The one you feed."  Author unknown

The inner dimension of our mind is powerful beyond measure. It’s the one no one sees and only we know; it’s this personal secret universe that drives every move we make. We aren’t as careful with this one, after all no one can see it and therefore it's ever so simple to hide. It often speaks with such authority it is easy to allow it to confuse us, hold us back or misguide the passion and purpose in our lives.

With daily discipline we can step away from the chattering monkey mind that keeps us confused and mislead. We can step into a quiet, encouraging, loving mind that keeps us driven and directed, offering strength and confidence. As we focus our minds in this way we open the window of our heart and like a little spring seedling our inner being gains the strength we need to find our way. Day after day, if we are committed to a more harmonious mind, its roots will grow down and out establishing firmly in a soil that nourishes wholesome, encouraging and powerful experiences in our lives. Transformation will take hold as this is practiced at first for one short moment, then perhaps for an hour and finally we graduate to this practice for an entire day. Eventually the inner dimension of our mind will begin to clear and very naturally lean toward that which is good. Faithfully feed this part of you, breathe deeply into the stillness being offered to you and enjoy the constant peace, calm and clarity that will awaken deep within you day by day.
